Harry Potter inspiration: The groom wore red for Gryffindor and the bride wore blue for Ravenclaw.
They rode in together on horseback to their ceremony, which was a surprise for all of their guests.
None other than Dumbledore performed the ceremony and yes, he is a real wizard, or as we muggles would say, he's a real magician. He had each of them write on a different card and then he gave them back a single card with what both of them wrote on it. He also had a puff of smoke come out of their joined hands during the unbreakable vow.
Most magic of all, Dumbledore had each of them write one word about the other on a piece of paper...
...then that piece of paper burst into flame to reveal their rings!
They sealed the unbreakable vow with a kiss before mounting their horses to ride back down the aisle together.
They did it! Ceremony's over, now it's time for some Harry Potter wedding fun!
Wands out! But don't worry, for those that didn't bring their own wand, we had one for everyone.
The wand chooses the wizard in Harry Potter and that was the case here. Each wand came with its own Hogwarts letter, which told guests their table assignment. Instead of table numbers, we used Harry Potter books.
The sorting hat from Harry Potter helped assign everyone's seats. The sorting hat's signs say:
DON'T PUT ME ON I ALREADY KNOW WHERE YOU'LL GO!
THE WAND CHOOSES THE WIZARD
The bride and groom asked for their sweetheart table to feature their favorite book,
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
This Harry Potter wedding welcome table featured a spot for owl post, The Daily Prophet's latest exciting news, books such as One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, and a custom guest book with wand pens for signing.
Nearby on the cake table was a very special Harry Potter book cake featuring the Hogwarts crest, a golden snitch, a wand, and two Hogwarts scarves: Ravenclaw for the bride and Gryffindor for the groom.
The ceremony wasn't the only thing that featured magic. During the reception, Dumbledore performed more magic!
Then we finished the Harry Potter wedding by having Dumbledore sign the marriage license using his Elder Wand pen.
They did it! What a magical wedding day!
Joseph D Grant Park is located in Mt Hamilton in the mountains above San Jose. They have a small Ranch House with a kitchen and minimal space for indoor seating. Next to that area is a beautiful rose garden and open grassy area with picnic tables. It's a beautiful place for an outdoor wedding, but do note that it is out of cell phone service range and is a bit of a drive up a very windy road to get there.
