16th Street Station is a train station in West Oakland that opened in 1912. It was originally used by Southern Pacific Railway and then taken over by Amtrak in the 1970s. It was still being used up until 1994, but today it is a historic landmark that can be rented for private events.
The space is offered as a sort of "blank canvas" to create with it what you want. 16th Street Station does not have running water or electricity despite it's urban location in West Oakland. This makes it a somewhat challenging venue, but it is also a unique one. It features three disctinct spaces: the main hall (inside area seen above), the baggage wing (we didn't use this space), and the rear under-platform area (graffiti area where cocktail hour was held and some group photos took place). If you're having a large event, 16th Street Station is ideal as the main hall can fit up to 500 guests (we had 200).
Wedding planning can be a challenge, especially with a venue like this! Robyn Diane Events can help!
